According to a recent article published by India News, Balasaheb Thorat, a senior leader of the Congress party, has suggested that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) – a coalition of the Congress party, the Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party – could potentially win up to 40 out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra if they contest together in the 2024 polls. Thorat further stated that the Congress party must be given seats where they have a strong base but have not contested elections previously.
During a two-day review meeting, the Congress party focused on assessing its organizational strength and ensuring that workers strive to achieve maximum victories for the MVA. Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole asserted that the Congress party should contest the maximum number of seats, saying, We are a national party.
Thorat attributed the changing political scenario in the nation to the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi, pointing out that people across the country are now aware of the challenges they are facing.
Patole claimed that there is a lot of resentment against the Modi government and the Eknath Shinde government, and the MVA must work together to defeat both and save the country. As of now, however, a seat-sharing formula for the 2024 elections has not been finalized.
