Supreme Court Takes Action Against Fake Post Misquoting CJI, Urging Protests Against Indian Government

The Supreme Court of India has taken action against a fake social media post that misquoted the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and called for protests against the ruling government. The post featured a picture of the CJI along with a quote that purportedly urged the public to come out on the streets and demand their rights.

The caption of the post read, Indian democracy Supreme Court Zindabad, which translates to Long live the Indian democracy and Supreme Court. However, the Public Relations Office (PRO) of the Supreme Court released a statement clarifying that the post is fake, ill-intended, and mischievous.

According to the PRO, no such post has been issued by the Chief Justice of India, nor has he authorized any such statement. The top court has deemed the post as false, and appropriate action is being taken in collaboration with law enforcement authorities.

The quote in question, falsely attributed to the CJI, stated, We are trying our best to save the Constitution of India, the democracy of India. But your cooperation is also very important for this, all the people should unite and come out on the streets and ask the government for their rights, this dictatorial government will scare people, and threaten, but you don’t have to be afraid, keep courage and ask the government to account, I am with you.

It is essential to address the spread of misinformation, especially when it involves key figures and institutions of the country. Fake posts and misattributed statements can fuel unrest and controversy, leading to confusion among the public.

The Supreme Court’s swift response to this incident showcases its commitment to ensuring accurate information and maintaining the public’s trust in the judiciary. By clarifying that the post is fake and taking appropriate action, the court aims to curb further circulation of false information and prevent any potential disturbances that could arise from it.

This incident also highlights the importance of verifying information before sharing it on social media platforms. With the proliferation of fake news, it becomes crucial for individuals to exercise caution and confirm the authenticity of any posts or quotes attributed to influential figures.

Ultimately, the Supreme Court’s stance against false information helps maintain the integrity of the institution and reinforces the public’s faith in its judgments.
