Former Manila Vice Mayor Danilo Lacuna passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 85, his eldest daughter, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, announced.
In a Facebook post, Lacuna’s family shared the sad news, stating that their beloved Daddy Danny peacefully passed away while surrounded by loved ones.
A man who devoted his life to service and compassion, Lacuna touched the lives of many, leaving behind a lasting legacy that extends far beyond his years. His memory will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew him.
Lacuna’s political career spanned several decades, during which he served as a Manila Councilor from 1968 to 1975 and Manila Vice Mayor from 1970 to 1971, 1988 to 1992, and 1998 to 2007. He also founded the local political party, Asenso Manileño, which produced notable figures such as former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and the current Mayor Honey Lacuna.
Survived by his wife Melanie Inday Lacuna and their five children—Honey, Lei, Dennis, Liza, and Philip—Lacuna leaves behind a family rooted in public service history.
