Pac Jawan Found Dead in Ganga River, Body Recovered in Kanpur

A Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) jawan drowned in the Ganga river in Dyodhi Ghat, Maharajpur during a routine training activity. The deceased, Prahlad Singh, was employed with the 37th Battalion in the district, and had entered the river water with 49 of his colleagues during the training program. When the training was over, all but Prahlad came out of the water. PAC divers arrived and launched a massive rescue operation. After an hour, Prahlad’s body was found and fished out of the river. A troop of the 37th battalion of PAC stays on the banks of the Ganga river in a temporary camp in Dyodhi Ghat. In between, the jawans train in the water stream of the river Ganga – trained for relief and rescue work during disasters or drowning accidents. Prahlad’s family in Auraiya has been informed and they have reached the city to claim the body.
