Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has ordered a high-level investigation into the Coromandel Express Derailment that occurred in Odisha’s Balasore late Friday night. According to Vaishnaw, the inquiry will determine what caused the train cars to derail. He stated that the rescue operation began soon after the ministry was informed of the incident, describing it as unfortunate and that he was focused on determining the root cause of the accident. In addition, authorities expedited the injured’s evacuation to local hospitals and provided ex-gratia payments to the victims’ families. Vaishnaw also stated that special buses and train services would be made available to assist the victims’ family members, and that the authorities had already notified the bereaved relatives and family members of the deaths.
