The Legal Metrology Department under the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, A&N Administration has announced that they will be implementing cashless transactions with effect from 5th June, 2023. In accordance with the Indian government’s Digital India Campaign, the department will only be accepting digital payments through the use of Scan & Pay (QR Code) facilities within their office.
This means that anyone requiring the department’s services such as verification & stamping of weights & measures, packer’s registration and more, will have to make digital payments through the Scan & Pay (QR Code) system in compliance with the extant Rules/Regulations. The department will not accept any other mode of payment, including cash.
The move to cashless transactions aligns with the Indian government’s goal of promoting transparency and accountability through the Digital India Campaign. The Legal Metrology Department is taking steps to ensure that their services are easily accessible to all, while also creating an environment that is conducive to digital payments.
With the implementation of this system, the Legal Metrology Department hopes that they will provide a more streamlined and efficient experience for their customers. They encourage businesses and individuals to embrace the shift to digital payments and utilize the Scan & Pay (QR Code) facilities available at their office.
Overall, this initiative by the Legal Metrology Department is a positive step towards India’s journey to becoming a more digitally advanced nation. By utilizing technology to promote efficiency and transparency, the department is contributing to a better and more modern society.
