Animal Protection Department in Guarenas Joins National Campaign for Fauna Law Reform

The Animal Protection Department in Guarenas, specifically in the Ambrosio Plaza municipality, has taken a significant step towards advocating for the reform of the Law for the protection of free and captive domestic fauna. Joining forces with a national campaign, their aim is to collect signatures in support of this reform.

Maricarmen Porto, the head of the Animal Protection Department, expressed their commitment to this cause and announced that they have set up an orange dot in their offices located in the Pueblo Arriba sector, on the second floor of the Civil Registry building. This dot symbolizes their participation in the nationwide signature collection campaign.

Porto extended an invitation to the guarenera communities, urging them to visit the office of the Secretariat of the Comprehensive Protection System and join the orange dot. In an AVN press release, Porto emphasized the importance of this initiative and invited the community to raise awareness about the need for stricter laws against animal mistreatment, cruelty, and death.

To ensure broader accessibility, points for signature collection will be established at different locations throughout the city. The ultimate goal of this campaign is to redefine animal mistreatment as a crime rather than a mere offense. Currently, the penalty for mistreating an animal is merely a derisory fine. By reforming the law, the Animal Protection Department hopes to better protect innocent animals from all forms of cruelty.

The commitment of the Guarenas Animal Protection Department to drive this campaign signifies their dedication to animal welfare and promoting a more compassionate society. By collecting signatures, they aim to demonstrate the urgency for legislative change in order to safeguard the rights and well-being of animals.

This initiative serves as a reminder that animals have the right to be protected from harm and deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. The Guarenas community is encouraged to support this cause and contribute to the reform of the Law for the protection of free and captive domestic fauna. Together, they can strive towards a society that upholds the values of compassion and empathy for all living beings.
