The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has summoned a senior resident doctor of Baba Sahib Ambedkar Hospital, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North District, and District Magistrate, North District for the Shahbad Dairy murder case. They have been directed to appear before the commission on June 7 with documents, including the victim’s post-mortem copy, First Information Report (FIR) copy, and details of action taken.
Last Saturday, Sahil Khan allegedly stabbed and killed his 16-year-old girlfriend in broad daylight. On Thursday, Delhi’s Rohini Court extended Sahil’s police custody for another three days. The accused was produced at the judge’s residence for security reasons, and Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Nidhi Chitkara extended his custody after hearing Delhi police’s submissions.
A CCTV camera captured the horrific incident, which shows Sahil repeatedly stabbing the girl with a knife, even after she fell to the ground. After kicking her, Sahil took a nearby concrete slab and bludgeoned her head. The footage shows people walking past without intervening, and a dog even approaches the spot. The police reached the crime scene ten minutes after the locals informed the local beat officer about the incident.
According to police, Sahil was in a relationship with the minor, and they had a quarrel on Sunday night, leading to her murder. The police have registered
an FIR under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Shahbad Dairy Police Station.
This case has sparked outrage on social media, with many people demanding justice and stricter laws to prevent such horrific crimes against women. The NCPCR’s summons to the senior doctor, DCP, and DM demonstrate that the authorities are taking this matter seriously and are taking steps to ensure that justice is served.
