Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for criticizing one’s country on foreign soil, saying that the people of India will not accept insults to the nation on foreign soil. Pathak’s comments came in response to Rahul’s recent remarks about press freedom being under threat back home in India, which he made during an interaction with journalists in Washington DC. Rahul claimed that there was a clampdown on the institutional framework that enabled the national discourse. Pathak found Rahul’s statement very saddening and insisted that people of India will never accept the insult of their nation on foreign soil.
