The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh will contest the upcoming assembly elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, according to former Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe. The announcement was made during a press conference in Bhopal, putting an end to speculation of a change in leadership within the state BJP unit. Sahasrabuddhe also accused the opposition of announcing freebies in the run-up to the elections, stating that the BJP would focus on the development work undertaken during Chouhan’s tenure. Although he avoided addressing state BJP chief V.D. Sharma, Sahasrabuddhe reaffirmed that the party’s ideology would remain the same even if leaders changed. He also predicted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be the face of the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, adding that Modi was working for the poor without announcing freebies.
