Child Abuse Awareness Call as Johor Crown Prince‘s Consort Urges Public Support
The crown prince’s consort of Johor, Che’ Puan Besar Khaleeda Bustamam, has called for increased public support in raising awareness about child abuse. This plea comes in light of a recent case involving a seven-year-old boy who was abused in Pasir Gudang. In a social media post, Khaleeda emphasized the importance of every individual’s contribution in protecting the future of children.
The concerned child was rescued by neighbors and immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. The case is currently under investigation by the police and the Welfare Department. Khaleeda expressed her gratitude to the community and neighbors who intervened and saved the child, highlighting how such acts of unity can play a significant role in safeguarding children in the country.
Khairin Nisa Ismail, the chairman of Johor’s women’s family and community development committee, confirmed that the couple responsible for an alleged child abuse video that went viral in Layangkasa, Pasir Gudang, has been arrested by the police. The seven-year-old victim seen in the video is now in the care of the Welfare Department. Initial investigations revealed that the child’s mother was living with her partner, who is believed to have played a role in the abuse. The victim’s mother, a 27-year-old housewife, and her 30-year-old Singaporean partner, who works as a technician, are both in custody.
The child has been transferred to Sultan Ismail Hospital for treatment. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the child’s injuries. Meanwhile, Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak confirmed that a police report was lodged regarding the incident.
The circulation of multiple videos on social media showing a child with visible wounds sparked concern among netizens, leading to the community’s prompt involvement and subsequent report to the police. The case serves as a reminder that child abuse is still a pressing issue that requires unwavering attention.
By raising awareness and fostering a sense of communal responsibility, it is hoped that incidents of child abuse will be reduced in the future. The public is urged to support efforts aimed at safeguarding the well-being and future of all children.
