Red Chillies Entertainment, the production company owned by Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, has filed a case against an unidentified individual for allegedly stealing and sharing clips from the upcoming movie ‘Jawan’ on Twitter. The company lodged the case at Santacruz police station on August 10th, under sections 379 (theft) of the IPC Act and 43(b) of the Information Technology Act.
According to the FIR, the stolen clips were posted on several Twitter handles, violating copyright and undermining the value of the film. Red Chillies Entertainment had strictly prohibited mobile phones and recording devices at the shooting location to prevent any unauthorized dissemination of the film’s content.
Five Twitter handles were identified through which the movie clips were shared, including @unknwnsrkian, Niteshnaveen@NiteshNaveen Aus, Ghulammustafaajk007@Ghulamm 76512733, Arhaan@Arhaan05, and Why so Serious I @Surrealzack. Legal notices were sent to these handles, but only one of them acknowledged receipt.
Subsequently, Red Chillies Entertainment filed a commercial suit in the Delhi High Court. The court ordered the Twitter handle to remove the clips, which were promptly taken down as per the court’s directive. The theft of the clips and their subsequent viral sharing has caused significant distress to the production company.
‘Jawan’ is an eagerly anticipated Hindi-language action thriller film co-written and directed by Atlee, marking his first venture into the Hindi film industry. Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma have produced the movie under Red Chillies Entertainment.
