Mike Pence’s recent gas pumping mishap has become a topic of eyebrows raising and laughter on the campaign trail. The incident occurred after the former vice president released a campaign video featuring him at a gas station, attempting to connect with voters by highlighting rising fuel prices under the Biden administration. However, the video quickly went awry when Pence failed to actually pump any gas.

In the video, Pence can be seen inserting the gas nozzle into his fuel tank, but he never squeezes the handle to initiate the flow of fuel. To add to the comedic effect, the pump continues to beep, as if reminding him to insert a credit card or select the grade of gas. The blunder did not go unnoticed by political commentators, including Laura Ingraham and Raymond Arroyo, who had a few laughs at Pence’s expense during their show, The Ingraham Angle.

Arroyo, pointing out the flaws in the ad, jokingly stated, If you’re trying to convince voters that you are a truth teller, I wish candidates would not undermine their credibility by not doing what they claim to be doing. This is how not to pump gas in your campaign ad. He went on to highlight all the things wrong with the video, providing comic relief amid the confusion.

Ingraham chimed in, expressing her disbelief at the oversight, saying, What the consultants and the ad people get paid in these campaigns, frankly, is criminal. Who allowed him to do that ad?! The hosts questioned the decision-making behind the ad, emphasizing that it undermines Pence’s credibility and integrity as a candidate.

While the incident may have generated laughter and raised eyebrows, it also raises questions about the campaign’s attention to detail and the overall effectiveness of political ads. In an era where voters are increasingly skeptical of politicians’ promises, maintaining credibility is crucial.

It remains to be seen how this gas pumping mishap will impact Pence’s campaign and voter perception of him as a truth teller. However, one thing is for certain, the video has provided an unintended dose of humor and entertainment during this election season. Perhaps next time, Pence will think twice before attempting to showcase relatability through gas station antics.
