Penang Police Assure Smooth State Elections with 5,776 Officers Deployed
Penang police have given their assurance that the upcoming state elections will proceed without a hitch. With a total of 5,776 officers and members deployed, the authorities are prepared to ensure the safety of the public at the 334 polling stations across the state. In a press conference held in George Town, the state contingent police headquarters media spokesman for the state polls, W. Pusphanathan, urged voters to plan their journey to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
As part of their preparations, district police chiefs approved 1,649 permits during the election campaigning period. Furthermore, the police received 40 reports related to election matters and have initiated investigations in 18 cases. From July 28 to August 11, one police inquiry was conducted to address any issues that may have arisen.
