The ongoing protests by top Indian wrestlers, calling for action against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Chief and BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh on allegations of sexual misconduct, are soon to be addressed with the filing of a charge sheet by the police, according to India’s Union Information and Broadcasting and Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur. Speaking at an economic conclave, the minister assured the public that justice would be done, stressing the importance of speedy justice, particularly for crimes committed against women. Thakur explained that the WFI was no longer involved in the daily affairs of the sport, which were under the purview of a committee formed by the Indian Olympic Association. He added that since forming a committee to investigate the matter and including members recommended by the wrestlers, the probe was conducted and handed over to the Delhi Police, who were expected to complete the investigation and file a charge sheet.
