Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence arm of Alibaba Group, has once again been recognized as a Challenger in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Cloud AI Developer Services (CAIDS). This marks the second consecutive year that Alibaba Cloud has received this honor.
Gartner defines cloud AI developer services as cloud-hosted or containerized services that allow software developers, who may not necessarily be data science experts, to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) models through APIs, SDKs, or applications. These services encompass essential capabilities such as automated machine learning, data preparation, feature engineering, model building, and model management. Supplementary capabilities include language and vision services like sentiment analysis and image generation.
Alibaba Cloud stands out for its ability to provide accessible and customizable AI applications. Its open-source platform, ModelScope, offers a wide range of AI models across various fields, including computer vision, natural language processing, and audio processing. These models are pre-trained and optimized for specific tasks, such as text-to-image generation. ModelScope aims to simplify the development and deployment of AI models, making it more cost-effective and user-friendly for both universities and smaller companies. To date, ModelScope has attracted over 2 million active users and facilitated more than 36 million model downloads.
In a recent development, Alibaba Cloud open sourced its large language models, Qwen-7B and Qwen-7B-Chat, through ModelScope and Hugging Face, a collaborative AI platform. This move allows academics, researchers, and commercial enterprises worldwide to freely access the models’ code, model weights, and documentation. Additionally, Alibaba Cloud introduced ModelScopeGPT, a framework that enables the connection of domain-specific expert models on ModelScope, empowering users to complete complex tasks like multilingual video creation.
Alibaba Cloud also offers a Machine Learning Platform for AI (PAI), delivering high performance and scalable capabilities in various industries. It provides over 140 built-in optimization algorithms to cater to different enterprise and developer needs.
Alibaba Cloud’s consistent recognition as a Challenger in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Cloud AI Developer Services highlights its commitment to advancing the field of AI and making it more accessible to developers and businesses worldwide. With its comprehensive suite of AI offerings, Alibaba Cloud continues to unlock productivity and drive innovation in the digital landscape.
