In an unprecedented move, Indian food delivery company, Zomato, has partnered with Sony Pictures for the highly anticipated release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Zomato’s brand name will be prominently featured in an important scene of the film, marking the first-ever integration of an Indian company in a Hollywood movie. Sony Pictures Entertainment India is planning to double the number of screens showing the film in comparison to the first edition in 2018. Zomato’s promotional efforts include adverts on out-of-home billboards, sky buses, and a special Spider-Man crystal on the Zomato app. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse boasts a 10-language release in India and marks the theatrical debut of Indian Spider-Man character, Pavitr Prabhakar. The addition of Indian cricketer, Shubman Gill, as the voice of the character has also generated a lot of buzz. Zomato’s association with the film represents a significant step for the Indian firm in terms of global recognition in the entertainment sector.
