The Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, recently chaired a meeting of senior police officers in Kashmir to review security arrangements for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2023 (SANJY). The DGP stressed the need for elaborate security arrangements to ensure a peaceful conduct of the yatra, the same as last year. He emphasized a focus on Rapid Action Teams, Blockade and Destroy Teams, deployment of additional manpower, sectoral coordination, and placing additional naka points at sensitive locations. The DGP also highlighted the need to fine-tune security arrangements for disaster management and maintain close coordination with security agencies to achieve the best results and conduct the yatra peacefully. The use of CCTV cameras, drones, and internet facilities were discussed during the meeting. The DGP directed for publicity of helpline numbers for immediate assistance and provision of best possible boarding, lodging and other facilities for jawans and officers deployed during the yatra. Moreover, the meeting also discussed acquisition of land for infrastructural development and implementation of welfare measures for police personnel. The officers present in the meeting gave their suggestions and briefed about the measures formulated for the peaceful conduct of the yatra.
