The administration of Jammu & Kashmir has extended the deadline for filing property tax returns after the controversy surrounding its imposition. The Housing & Urban Development Department has amended the rules concerning the imposition of property tax, stating that the particulars of the property and tax due for the financial year 2023-24 should be submitted by July 31, 2023. This is a necessary amendment as the previous deadline had passed on May 30. The J&K administration has faced criticism regarding the imposition of property tax, but they maintain that they are the last state to implement it in the country.
