Niger State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected armed robbers who were pursued and apprehended by the police. The incident took place at a tea seller kiosk near the NARTO garage in Deidei Abuja.
According to the police, the suspects were spotted by officers from the Tafa Division of the state Police Command during a routine patrol in the Dakwa area of the Council. They received a distress call about an attempted robbery and immediately responded.
Upon seeing the police team, the suspects tried to escape, but they were chased and eventually caught. The three individuals arrested were identified as Suleman Yahaya (21), Umar Suleman (25), and Khalifa Abdulrahman (18). All three are residents of Deidei, FCT Abuja.
During the interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of a robbery syndicate that has been terrorizing Dakwa, Deidei, and the surrounding areas. They also revealed the names of three other members of the gang who are currently at large: Hassan, Lamar, and Bakano.
A search of the suspects’ kiosk led to the discovery of several items, including a double-barrel pump-action gun, a locally fabricated gun, 264 wraps of suspected Indian hemp (Cannabis Sativa), a cutlass, a knife, three scissors, a white t-shirt, and a vigilante shirt.
The arrested suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Minna for further investigation. The police assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang who are still on the run.
