Rising Rose Hall Cricket Club in Guyana Receives Donations to Support Young Talent

The Rose Hall Community Centre Cricket Club in Guyana has received a generous donation of cricket gear to support its young and promising cricketers. As part of the Cricket Gear for Young and Promising Cricketers in Guyana initiative, the club received a box of balls to aid in their training and development.

Known for its rapidly rising reputation, the Rose Hall Community Centre Cricket Club has already produced numerous talented cricketers who have gone on to represent Guyana at the youth level. One such player is Isiaia Thorne, who is considered one of the fastest young bowlers in the Caribbean and has already represented the West Indies Under-19 team. Additionally, Ashmini Munisar, a young female cricketer, serves as the West Indies youth captain and has also represented the Senior Female Team.

Upon receiving the donation, the team’s coach, Ameer Rahaman, expressed gratitude and committed to continuing their efforts to promote and serve the game of cricket in Guyana. Rahaman, who currently serves as the head coach of the National Under-13 team, recently led the team to victory in a bi-lateral series in Trinidad.

The Cricket Gear for Young and Promising Cricketers in Guyana project has been successful in raising funds and garnering support from various donors. So far, a total of $370,000 in cash has been collected, alongside a wide range of cricket gear including uniforms, trophies, cricket boots, batting pads, cricket bats, batting gloves, and more. The project has also received substantial donations from Sheik Mohamed, a former National wicket keeper/batsman, who contributed gear worth $600,000.

The donated cricket-related items are distributed free of cost to young cricketers across Guyana who show promising talent, discipline, and a commitment to both cricket and education. In an effort to identify and nurture talent, talent spotting is carried out throughout the country, with club leaders playing a crucial role in the selection process. The project prioritizes progressive and well-managed cricket clubs with established youth programs.

Apart from the Rose Hall Community Centre Cricket Club, other beneficiaries of the project include the Pomeroon, Leguan, and Wakenam Cricket Committees, the Cotton Tree Die Hard club, the Essequibo Cricket Board, the Town of Lethem, youth coach Travis Persaud, and various softball teams in the Upper Corentyne area.

The generous donations and support provided by individuals and organizations contribute significantly to the development of young cricketers in Guyana. The project’s aim is to equip aspiring cricketers with the necessary gear to enhance their skills and pursue their dreams in the sport. The Rose Hall Community Centre Cricket Club and other recipients express their heartfelt appreciation for the donations that will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the future of cricket in Guyana.
