Gujarat Government Suspends Anand District Collector on Charges of Misconduct and Investigates Viral Video
The Gujarat government has taken action against Anand district collector D S Gadhvi following allegations of misconduct and moral turpitude. Gadhvi has been suspended from his post, while disciplinary action is being initiated against him. This decision comes after a video purportedly showing Gadhvi in an intimate position with a woman in his office went viral.
To ensure a fair investigation into the matter, a five-member panel comprising women officers has been formed. The panel, headed by Sunaina Tomar, ACS of the social justice and empowerment department, will investigate the incident and submit its report to the state government within a month.
The authenticity of the video has been reportedly verified before disciplinary action was taken against Gadhvi, who is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 2008 batch. However, independent validation of the video’s veracity has not yet been confirmed.
As part of the investigation, Gadhvi’s phone will be sent for examination. This step aims to gather additional evidence and shed light on the situation. The government has also appointed Milind Bapna, the district development officer of Anand, to assume the additional charge of the district collector.
The Gujarat government is committed to maintaining integrity and accountability within its administrative system. By suspending Gadhvi and initiating a prompt investigation, they aim to address the allegations and ensure justice is served.
It is important to note that all individuals should be considered innocent until proven guilty, and it is crucial to await the findings of the investigation before drawing any conclusions. The government’s actions demonstrate their commitment to transparency and the fair treatment of their officials.
As the case progresses, it will become clearer whether the allegations against Gadhvi hold merit. The investigation will provide a comprehensive understanding of the situation and enable the government to take appropriate action based on the findings.
The Gujarat government’s decision to suspend Gadhvi reflects their dedication to upholding ethical conduct and accountability among their public officials. The results of the investigation will ultimately determine the course of action taken in this matter, ensuring a just outcome for all parties involved.
