A clerk at the Chaibasa Electricity Supply sub-division in Jamshedpur was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Shambhu Kumar, the arrested official, was transported from Chaibasa to Jamshedpur and interrogated before being remanded to judicial custody. The arrest was made following a complaint by Sagar Hessa, a resident of Bada Jhinkapani, who received a mistake deposit of Rs 81,100 for the wrong tariff. While requesting a refund, Shambhu demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000. The ACB acted promptly upon the complaint and apprehended the clerk. DSP Vijay Mahato advised citizens to report any such corrupt officials and emphasized that stringent action would be taken against them.
