Delhi’s Lt Governor V.K. Saxena has approved a request for senior prosecutors appointed by the CBI to handle 20 POCSO cases, after citing a delay on the Kejriwal government’s end in responding to the order. The AAP Government has called out the LG’s orders as illegal, citing the lack of consultation with the elected government and plans to challenge the notification in the Supreme Court. The file had been pending with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal since May 8, 2023. The LG stated that the appointment of senior prosecutors was necessary to ensure speedy disposal of the 20 POCSO cases across different courts within the city.
