Shraddha Walker’s brother, Shreejay, testified as a prosecution witness in a Delhi court detailing an altercation between his sister, Aftab (the accused), and her. Shreejay informed the court that Shraddha had complained to him that Aftab often engaged in verbal altercations and physical violence towards her, even though she continued to reside with him. She had also informed him that she shifted to Aftab’s residence against the family’s will and that he had apologised every time Shraddha brought up the altercation. The family had encouraged Shraddha to leave Aftab due to the physical harm he caused her, but she ignored their advice and continued to reside with him. Shraddha disappeared on May 18, 2022, following which her body parts were found in the forest of the Chhatarpur Pahadi area. Aftab was accused of murdering her and was arrested in November 2022. The court framed charges against Aftab under sections 302 and 201 IPC for murder and disappearance of evidence and set the next hearing for July 12, 2022.
