Four individuals have been booked by the Gautam Budh Nagar police in relation to the murder and rape of a 19-year-old woman. The incident occurred after the woman’s family staged a protest, along with her body, at the Ghaziabad-Noida border, alleging police inaction.
According to officials, the woman, who resided in Crossing Republik, Ghaziabad, was visiting a male friend in Bahlolpur village, Noida. The woman and the man had known each other for six months, having previously worked together at a factory in Sector 63. However, the woman had a dispute with another coworker, prompting her to switch jobs and relocate to another factory within the same sector. Nevertheless, she remained in contact with her male friend.
On the day of the incident, the woman did not show up for work and instead visited her male friend’s residence in Bahlolpur. Witnesses stated that the male friend was alone when the woman arrived, and they overheard an argument before witnessing the woman leaping from the second floor of the building.
The male friend immediately rushed her to a private hospital in Ghaziabad and contacted the woman’s sister to inform her about the incident. Upon the arrival of the woman’s family at the hospital, the male friend left abruptly, cutting off all contact with the family. This raised suspicions among the woman’s relatives.
Despite the family’s attempts to file a complaint with multiple police stations, their grievances were not addressed until they resorted to protesting with the woman’s body on the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) road at the border between Ghaziabad and Noida. Senior officers arrived at the scene upon learning about the protest and registered an FIR (First Information Report) based on a formal complaint from the family.
The woman’s family has named the male friend, his brother and sister-in-law, as well as the woman’s former colleague in the complaint. The case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder, criminal conspiracy, acts done in furtherance of common intention, and rape.
While the male friend and his family members are currently evading arrest, the woman’s former colleague is being questioned by the police. Investigations have shown that the colleague was present at his workplace during the time of the incident. Furthermore, the woman’s post-mortem report did not indicate any evidence of sexual assault or rape, with the cause of death attributed to shock and hemorrhage from injuries sustained before her death.
Authorities are treating the case with seriousness and investigating all leads to bring justice to the victim and her family.
