The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is expected to wrap up the recruitment process of 5,159 posts of category II and III soon, according to an official statement from the food ministry. The recruitment process is conducted through an online examination that is advertised in leading newspapers, with the selection process conducted purely on merit. The agency has been one of the leading recruiters in recent years, recruiting large numbers of young people annually. In 2021, it hired 87 Category I, 307 Category II, and 3,687 Category III officers, with successful recruitment efforts for a total of 5,159 positions advertised in 2022. The FCI is filling the existing vacancies to maintain efficient operations and meet human resource shortages, rather than downsizing. The government’s nodal agency is responsible for food grain procurement and distribution.
