The Delhi government has received a directive from their law department to strictly comply with the ordinance passed by the Centre earlier this month related to services. This was communicated to all the top officials of the city government, including additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, secretaries, and department heads, through a letter on May 26. The ordinance, which was issued by the Centre on May 19, has brought the executive control over services, such as the transfers and postings of Delhi government officers, back under its domain. This directive from the Delhi government comes after the lieutenant governor’s office instructed the Delhi chief secretary to bring the ordinance to the notice of all top officials for strict compliance. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi has called the ordinance unconstitutional and plans to challenge it in the Supreme Court.
