Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar recently met with his South African counterpart, Naledi Pandor, in Cape Town to review the progress of their bilateral strategic partnership. Jaishankar arrived in South Africa to participate in the BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting which is also being held in Cape Town. During the meeting, both leaders agreed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in a fitting manner. They also exchanged their views on a number of issues, including BRICS, IBSA, G20, and the United Nations. After the meeting, Jaishankar also met with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, to discuss bilateral matters, BRICS, G20, and SCO. In addition, Jaishankar had a meeting with the Saudi Arabian counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, where they discussed the global situation and looked forward to advancing bilateral cooperation through the Strategic Partnership Council. During his three-day visit to South Africa, Jaishankar will also call on South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and participate in the Friends of BRICS ministers from other countries.
