Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Accuses Modi Government of Murdering Bharat Mata in Manipur

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the Narendra Modi government of murdering Bharat Mata in Manipur, criticizing their handling of the recent violence in the state. Gandhi’s remarks drew a fiery response from Union ministers Amit Shah and Smriti Irani during a heated debate on the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha.

Gandhi alleged that the politics of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has led to the murder of Hindustan, referring to the violence in Manipur. He called out the ruling party members as traitors and criticized Prime Minister Modi for not visiting the strife-torn state.

In response, Home Minister Amit Shah appealed for peace in Manipur and urged the warring Kuki and Meitei communities to hold talks with the government to find a resolution. He emphasized that nobody can support such incidents of violence, but also called for the issue to not be politicized.

The Lok Sabha adopted a resolution, supported by both the ruling BJP-led NDA members and the opposition, appealing for peace in Manipur. However, tensions escalated as both sides exchanged allegations during the debate.

Union Minister Smriti Irani strongly condemned Rahul Gandhi’s statement, referring to it as the first time in parliamentary democracy that someone made such a claim. She accused Congress leaders of endorsing the idea of dividing India and affirmed that Manipur is an integral part of the country.

Following Rahul Gandhi’s speech, during which he gave a flying kiss to BJP members as he left the House, Irani expressed outrage over what she called an indecent gesture. Several women MPs of the BJP later submitted a complaint to Speaker Om Birla, seeking stringent action against Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi, in his first speech in the House since the restoration of his membership, alleged that the prime minister does not consider Manipur as a part of India. He accused the government of dividing Manipur and killing the voice of the people.

The debate also saw Gandhi questioning the leaked video of two women being paraded naked in Manipur just before the Monsoon session of Parliament began. He claimed that Manipur needs the deployment of the army to restore peace, insinuating that the government has failed in this regard.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to reply to the debate on August 10, followed by voting on the no-confidence motion. The final outcome is widely expected to favor the government given their strong majority.

In this lively exchange during the no-confidence motion debate, both sides presented their viewpoints on the violence in Manipur, with Rahul Gandhi accusing the government of murdering Bharat Mata while BJP ministers condemned his statements. The tensions between the two parties highlight the political divide in the country.
