Man Allegedly Assaults Wife After Dowry Refusal; Family Raises Concerns Over Police Response
A distressing incident unfolded in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, as a man reportedly brutally assaulted his wife after she refused to meet his dowry demands. The victim, identified as Laxmi Pal, is currently undergoing treatment at Jaya Arogya Hospital. According to sources, Laxmi Pal, a resident of the Inderganj police station area in Gwalior, had been married to her husband, Kali Pal, since 2011. However, it has been alleged that Kali, who is known to have an alcohol addiction, frequently exerted pressure on his wife for dowry.
The shocking incident occurred on Monday when a heated argument between the couple escalated into violence. Kali allegedly beat Laxmi severely, causing her significant injuries. Upon learning of the distressing situation, Laxmi’s parents rushed to the scene and immediately took her to Jaya Arogya Hospital for necessary medical attention.
Fueled by anger and despair upon witnessing their injured daughter lying in a hospital bed, the victim’s family wasted no time and promptly filed a complaint against their son-in-law at the Inderganj police station. They also sought assistance from the Superintendent of Police (SP) office.
The family has voiced their disappointment with the police, claiming that the original complaint was registered under minor sections of law by the Inderganj police. They are demanding more severe action against the accused given the severity of Laxmi’s injuries.
Police officials, on the other hand, have assured the victim’s family that they are actively investigating the matter. They explained that due to Laxmi’s admission to the hospital, further action will be taken once all necessary documents have been collected from the medical facility. They also stated that the charges against the accused could be reconsidered and escalated, if deemed necessary.
