Viral Fever Cases Surge Nationwide, New Subvariant of Covid Detected
The occurrence of viral fever cases is on the rise not only in Mumbai but also across Maharashtra and the entire country. Apart from the known influenza A and B viruses, a new subvariant of the Covid-causing SARS-CoV-2 virus called EG.5.1 has emerged in the UK and Maharashtra. A recent national survey reveals that many households have multiple individuals experiencing symptoms such as cough, cold, and fever. However, doctors mention that the severity of these symptoms does not warrant hospitalization in most cases.
Back in March, the Union government reported a surge in fever cases due to three viruses from the flu/influenza A and B families, namely A H1N1pdm09, A H3N2, and B Victoria.
The data on households with members displaying viral or Covid-like symptoms is based on a survey conducted by the community social media platform Local Circles, which had a sample size of 20,000 people.
The increasing number of viral fever cases is a cause for concern nationwide.
