The Congress party has announced that it will continue to push for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani issue during the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament. The party has been spearheading the opposition’s demand for a JPC following the release of the Hindenburg Research Report, which alleged that the Adani Group had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud schemes for decades.
The Congress has released a booklet titled ‘Hum Adani Ke Hain Kaun’, containing 100 questions asked by the party to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Adani issue. Congress general secretary-in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh said that the party would not step back from its demand for a JPC probe and that the Modani scam could only be unearthed through a JPC.
Rahul Gandhi has accused the PM of favouring few industrialists, including Gautam Adani. He called on the PM to disclose his relationship with Adani after the Hindenburg Research Report on the Adani Group surfaced. The Congress boycotted the inauguration of the new Parliament building by the PM on May 28.
The Congress party’s demands for a JPC probe are likely to be a major talking point during the Monsoon session of Parliament as it seeks to hold the government accountable for its alleged complicity in the Adani issue.
