India and Nepal sign agreements for boosting physical connectivity, power cooperation and tourism partnership.

India and Nepal have signed several agreements aimed at enhancing physical connectivity, as well as cooperation in power and tourism sectors. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed that new rail links had been established to increase physical connectivity and a long-term power trade agreement between India and Nepal had been established. In his fourth visit to India, Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said the relationship between India and Nepal is age-old, and that groundbreaking projects were launched during his trip. The two leaders virtually participated in the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony of various projects, giving a boost to cross-border connectivity and the flow of people, goods, and energy. These include unveiling the e-plaque of the Kurtha-Bijalpura section of the railway, inland container ports at Nepalgunj and Rupaidiha, and the ground-breaking ceremony of the Indian portion of the Gorakhpur-Bhutwal transmission line. The two countries also agreed to expedite projects related to the Ramayana circuit, to further strengthen the religious and cultural ties between India and Nepal.
