A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with two physical attacks, including a sexual assault, that took place in Westchester. The arrest came after New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a sexual assault at Five Islands Park on August 7. The victim, a young girl, was treated at a local hospital and provided a description of the attacker.

According to the victim, an unknown male followed her to the park from Main Street and assaulted her from behind. However, the attacker fled when an adult woman intervened. Police immediately launched a search for the suspect and managed to locate him near New Rochelle High School later that day.

Upon further investigation, the 15-year-old suspect was also linked to a separate assault that occurred on August 4 on Soundview Street. In this incident, the suspect followed a young girl and physically attacked her, causing her to fall to the ground. Two witnesses intervened, causing the suspect to flee the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that the boy was not known to any of the victims involved in the attacks. Due to his age, the police have chosen not to release his name publicly. The boy has been charged and is facing legal consequences for his actions.

The arrest of the 15-year-old suspect brings some relief to the community as residents have expressed deep concern and fear following the incidents. Mayor Noam Bramson expressed his gratitude to the New Rochelle Police Department for their swift action in apprehending the suspect. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

In light of these incidents, local organizations and authorities are working together to enhance safety measures in Westchester. Efforts are being made to increase police presence in parks and public spaces, while also encouraging community members to report any suspicious activity. Additionally, educational programs are being introduced to teach young individuals about personal safety and awareness.

It is important to note that everyone in the community plays a crucial role in preventing and addressing such incidents. By staying informed, looking out for one another, and promptly reporting any suspicious behavior, residents can contribute to maintaining a safe environment for all.

The investigation into these assaults is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information or potential leads to come forward. In the face of these unfortunate incidents, the Westchester community remains resilient and committed to ensuring the well-being of its residents, particularly its younger members.
