South Carolina Holds Lead in Recruiting Battle for Running Back Daniel Hill
South Carolina’s recruiting campaign for running back Daniel Hill continues to be a stronghold. Despite interest from other schools, including Alabama, the Gamecocks remain in the lead for Hill’s commitment. The visit to Alabama didn’t sway Hill’s decision, and USC head coach Shane Beamer and running backs coach Montario Hardesty have been actively engaging with the prospect.
Hill recently visited Alabama and described the trip as a casual hangout with players, commits, and recruits. He wasn’t extensively involved with the coaches during the visit. As a result, USC’s position as the frontrunner remains intact, although Alabama is a close second. Tennessee shouldn’t be discounted either, as Hill hasn’t finalized his decision and could make it as late as August 23rd.
To solidify their lead, the Gamecocks need to maintain their proactive approach in communicating and showcasing their desire for Hill to join the team. Hill mentioned that the coaches have been emphasizing his potential impact on their already impressive recruiting class.
In other recruiting news, USC is among the final five choices for 2024 defensive end Booker Pickett. The other schools in contention are Georgia, Ohio State, Miami, and Florida State. Clemson has offered a scholarship to linebacker Bradley Shaw from Alabama, adding to their list of successful recruits. Clemson is also making strides in securing 2025 offensive lineman Justin Hasenhuetl, who attended head coach Dabo Swinney’s high school camp and earned an offer.
USC target Jontae Gilbert recently decommitted from Ohio State but has yet to finalize his decision. Clemson continues to expand its recruiting efforts, offering scholarships to prospects such as offensive tackle Solomon Thomas, tight end Logan Brooking, and quarterback Kelden Ryan.
In commitments, Riverside defensive tackle Marcus Downs has chosen Georgia Tech, while linebacker Timir Hickman-Collins has committed to Florida State. DE Jalin Edwards has opted for Furman, and former Citadel signee Ravon Johnson will now play for San Jose City Junior College.
Overall, the recruitment battle for running back Daniel Hill remains intense, with South Carolina holding the lead but facing strong competition. The Gamecocks must maintain their proactive and engaging approach to secure Hill’s commitment.
