Australia dominates the Commonwealth Youth Games 2023 medal tally, with India celebrating their silver and bronze success. The seventh edition of the multi-sport event has kicked off in Trinidad and Tobago, showcasing the talents of over 1,000 young athletes in various sporting events.

In the medal tally, Australia occupies the top spot with an impressive total of 24 medals. Their medal haul includes eight gold, seven silver, and nine bronze medals. Following closely behind are England in second place with 16 medals and Scotland in third with nine medals. The host nation, Trinidad and Tobago, currently sits at seventh place with five medals.

India’s performance in the competition has been commendable, with the country securing two medals so far. Shoan Ganguly and Anupriya Valliyot Sasi are the proud medal winners for India, taking home a silver and a bronze, respectively.

The Commonwealth Youth Games, which began in 2000 in Scotland, have proven to be a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills. Australia has emerged as the most successful country in the history of the competition, with a total of 416 medals to their name. England closely follows with 394 medals, while South Africa and India have secured 203 and 125 medals, respectively.

Originally scheduled for 2021, the Commonwealth Youth Games had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. India had the honor of hosting the event once before in 2008, when they finished at the top of the medal standings. In the previous edition held in the Bahamas in 2017, England emerged as the overall winners.
