Women in Uttar Pradesh have been empowered through the government’s Mission Shakti initiative, with significant contributions to the state’s economy. Over the past six years, women have been integrated into various employment and self-employment opportunities, resulting in improved economic status and overall growth.
Under the mission, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken strict actions against criminals and wrongdoers to create a safe environment for women and daughters. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally monitors incidents of crimes against females, and regular review meetings are conducted to address the issue effectively. As a result of these efforts, the Women and Child Safety Organization has resolved 98.10 percent of cases related to crimes against women, earning Uttar Pradesh the top rank in the country.
To combat crimes against women, the government has implemented several measures, including the establishment of initiatives like Power Mobile, Women’s Help Desk 1090, Women Police Beat, and Women Beat Police Officers. These initiatives aim to provide support to women and ensure their safety.
Additionally, through the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission, more than 1 crore rural women have been connected to self-help groups, village organizations, and cluster-level federations. These initiatives have provided opportunities for women to become financially independent by accessing funds, revolving funds, and community investment funds.
Furthermore, the government has undertaken training programs for female village heads, ensuring their empowerment and active participation in decision-making processes. The Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana provides economic assistance to girls for their education, benefiting thousands of girls across the state. Similarly, schemes such as the Destitute Women Pension Scheme and Mukhyamantri Samuhik Yojana have provided financial support to economically disadvantaged women and couples.
The government has also introduced schemes like Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, BC Sakhi, Startup Village Entrepreneurship Program, and Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana to empower and uplift women in various sectors. These initiatives aim to promote entrepreneurship, skill development, and economic independence.
