Police Arrest Mastermind in Rs 49 lakh Bank Heist in Odisha, Recover Stolen Gold
In a successful operation, the Odisha Police have apprehended the mastermind behind a bank heist involving Rs 49 lakh and the recovery of stolen gold in Balasore. The main accused was arrested from the neighboring state of West Bengal. The Superintendent of Police, Sagarika Nath, disclosed that a total of 14 individuals were involved in the robbery, with four of them playing the central role in orchestrating the entire incident.
Authorities have managed to uncover the modus operandi employed by this criminal group, revealing their involvement in similar cases in Basta, Bhograi, and the east and west Medinipur areas. The gang predominantly operated in the border regions between Odisha and West Bengal, specifically targeting banks and jewelry shops. With the objective of raising public awareness and apprehending the remaining culprits, the police will soon disseminate photographs of the accused individuals in prominent locations such as banks and jewelry establishments.
During the arrest of the main accused, the police successfully recovered approximately 854 grams of gold, equivalent to Rs 49 lakh. Moreover, seven more individuals allegedly involved in the case have been identified, and their arrests are imminent, according to SP Nath.
This recent breakthrough follows the earlier arrest of six suspects, who were also implicated in the bank heist. During that operation, the police confiscated Rs 6 lakh in cash and 300 grams of gold ornaments valued at Rs 15 lakh.
