Town Budget Committee Member Resigns Amid Child Pornography Charges
LONDONDERRY — A town Budget Committee member, Timothy Siekmann, has resigned following his arrest on child pornography charges. Siekmann’s resignation was swiftly accepted by the Town Council at a special meeting held on Monday night. The committee member faced 15 counts of possessing child pornography.
In a letter addressed to Patrick Cassidy, the chair of the committee, Siekmann stated, In light of the current circumstances, I am resigning from the Budget Committee. The committee has important work to do, and they don’t need any distractions from that mission. The resignation comes just ten days before the next scheduled Budget Committee meeting, which would have been held a week earlier than planned due to committee school tours on August 24.
Siekmann, who is currently out on bail, is prohibited from having any contact with individuals under the age of 18 as per the bail conditions. Surprisingly, there are no specifications regarding his proximity to school zones.
Town Manager Michael Malaguti confirmed that Siekmann sent the letter to Cassidy on Sunday, which was subsequently reviewed by Malaguti. The council unanimously voted to accept the resignation, with Chair John Farrell expressing appreciation to the Budget Committee for their swift resolution.
Now, Siekmann awaits a dispositional conference scheduled for September 12. This conference will allow for discussions and a possible early resolution of the case within New Hampshire’s court system.
