Hulihia Center Seeks Community Input to Advance Sustainable Tourism Development in Maui Nui
The Hulihia Center for Sustainable Systems is embarking on a year-long project to enhance sustainable tourism development in Maui Nui. As part of this initiative, they are seeking input from the local community to better understand the impacts of the visitor industry. The center will be hosting a series of public Talk Story sessions in the coming months, inviting individuals to share their personal and professional experiences related to the visitor industry.
The Hulihia team has scheduled a Talk Story session on Tuesday, August 15th, from 4-6 p.m. at the Student Lounge of the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College. Participants can register for the event and are also encouraged to provide their input through a short survey.
What makes Hulihia Center unique is its integration of indigenous knowledge, community insights, and sustainability expertise to find innovative ways to strengthen sustainability for the community. The center recently completed a successful pilot project analyzing the healthcare system in Maui and Lānaʻi. Building upon that achievement, Hulihia plans to apply its systems approach to the sustainable development of tourism in Maui Nui.
