Twenty-four networks, including ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, HBO, Showtime, and Disney Plus, will come together on August 19 to broadcast the annual showbiz fundraiser Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C). The one-hour special, titled How It Started, How It’s Going, marks the organization’s 15 years of fighting cancer. A star-studded lineup of celebrities, including Don Cheadle, Ken Jeong, Elizabeth Banks, Katie Couric, Jessica Biel, Tony Hale, Maria Menounos, Julianne Moore, Tig Notaro, Jimmy Smits, and Justin Timberlake, will make appearances during the event.

SU2C was created in 2008 to save lives through groundbreaking research aimed at intercepting and treating cancer in innovative ways. Over the past 15 years, the organization’s scientists have made remarkable progress in achieving this goal, accomplishing breakthroughs that were once thought impossible. Katie Couric, SU2C co-founder, expressed her awe at the achievements and emphasized that there is still more work to be done until every cancer patient becomes a long-term survivor. She encourages people to donate, as every dollar makes a difference.

The television special will not only celebrate SU2C’s 15-year legacy but will also shed light on the progress being made in cancer research. Renowned cancer scientists will discuss their findings, and inspiring stories from cancer survivors will be shared. The event aims to raise awareness about the importance of standing together in the fight against cancer and ultimately saving lives.

Russell Chew, president and CEO of SU2C, highlighted the significance of the telecast, describing it as a powerful tribute that showcases the collective effort required to combat cancer. Chew expressed his gratitude towards the entertainment community, broadcast networks, generous donors, and dedicated researchers who tirelessly work towards developing new cancer treatments.

The #Up2Us to #StandUpToCancer event, a month-long fundraising initiative, was launched by SU2C on August 1. The initiative aims to drive donations and support for the organization’s ongoing efforts in cancer research.

Since its inception, SU2C has raised an impressive $746 million. This notable contribution demonstrates the impact and importance of supporting scientific advancements aimed at eradicating cancer.

The telecast of How It Started, How It’s Going will be filmed at NeueHouse in Los Angeles. David Jammy and Elizabeth Kelly will serve as the executive producers for the event, representing Done + Dusted.

In addition to the major networks, other broadcasters, including Discovery Family, Destination America, AXS TV, Estrella TV, Tubi, Starz, and MGM Plus, will also air the special, ensuring that the message reaches a wide audience.

As SU2C marks 15 years of fighting cancer, the organization remains steadfast in its commitment to making every cancer patient a long-term survivor. The event serves as a reminder of the progress achieved and the work still to be done in the battle against this devastating disease. By uniting for a common cause, we move closer to a future where cancer is no longer a threat to human lives.
