Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has made assurances that his government will introduce the Advocate Protection Act. Speaking at a function to say farewell to Justice B Veerappa, organised by the Bengaluru Advocate Association, the chief minister recalled how he had made the same promise to the legal fraternity when he was in opposition and how he intended to honour that pledge now he has come to power. The Association also urged the chief minister to introduce an insurance scheme for lawyers, a concept that Siddaramaiah said he would discuss with the relevant authorities.
