Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led state government for its decision to grant a weekly-off facility to police personnel in the state. Nath referred to this move as a mere election ploy by the BJP.

Nath took to Twitter to express his thoughts, stating that he had granted this right to the policemen during his tenure as Chief Minister in January 2019. However, as soon as the Shivraj government took charge, this right was revoked. He emphasized the contrasting approach of the Congress and the BJP towards police welfare, highlighting the fact that the Congress had granted the weekly-off as soon as they formed the government, while the BJP neglected it for 18 years and even withdrew the rights of policemen.

Nath accused the Shivraj government of trying to make amends for the injustice done to the police by restoring the weekly-off facility. However, he dismissed this gesture as a mere election tactic employed by Chief Minister Chouhan.

In response, the state home minister, Narottam Mishra, countered Nath’s claims by stating that Nath had merely announced the weekly off during his 15-month rule without actually implementing it. Mishra emphasized that the difference lies in Chief Minister Chouhan’s action of not only announcing but also releasing an official order from the Police Headquarters, allowing police personnel to avail the weekly off.

Mishra concluded by advising Nath to understand the difference between running the government and merely making announcements.

It is evident that there is a difference in perspective between Nath and the current government regarding the weekly-off facility for police personnel in Madhya Pradesh. While Nath accuses the BJP of using it as an election gimmick, Mishra clarifies that the order was officially released, enabling police personnel to take advantage of the facility.

This difference in opinion reflects the political dynamics in Madhya Pradesh and underscores the need to consider multiple perspectives to form a well-rounded view of the issue at hand.
