Uncovering Hitler’s Rise: New Documentary Explores Dark Chapters of German History
The German documentary series, Hitler’s Power, has secured worldwide distribution rights. Produced by Eco Media, History Media, and ZDF Digital, a subsidiary of ZDF Studios, this three-part series delves into Adolf Hitler’s rise to power and the horrific events that followed.
Hitler’s Power aims to provide a fresh perspective on this period of German history, catering to a younger audience disconnected from those who experienced the war firsthand. The series explores why Hitler maintained confidence in the support of most Germans, even when defeat seemed imminent, and investigates the factors that led to the widespread endorsement of the Holocaust.
Ralf Rückauer, Vice President of Unscripted Content at ZDF Studios, emphasizes the documentary’s extensive research and high production values. By presenting a distinctive and compelling narrative surrounding Hitler’s rise, the series aims to shed light on this dark chapter in German history.
In other news, PVR Inox Pictures, an Indian exhibitor and distributor, has recognized the changing habits of post-pandemic audiences. They have decided to distribute Bengali-language films across India, acknowledging the growing demand for regional content. The distribution of Bengali films will kick off with the release of Byomkesh O Durgorahasya on August 11, followed by several other key titles.
To celebrate this milestone, PVR Inox hosted an event attended by representatives from the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association and eminent figures from the Bengali film industry. Notable guests included Dev, Nispal Singh Rane, Shiboprosad Mukherjee, Nusrat Jahan, Yash Dasgupta, Birsa Dasgupta, Neel Ratan Dutta, Firdasul Hasan, Shyam Sundar Dey, Atanu Roychowdhury, Abhijeet Sen, Navin Choukhani, Ankush, Oindrilla, and Arindam Sil.
Kamal Gianchandnani, CEO of PVR Inox Pictures, emphasizes the significance of this distribution expansion, highlighting the thriving and vibrant nature of Bengal’s film industry. The collaboration between PVR Inox and Bengali filmmakers is set to create an enduring legacy.
In terms of personnel changes, BBC Studios Germany has appointed Eva Holtmann as the Head of Fiction, Susen Schadwinkel as the Executive Producer, and Kai Krabbenhöft as the Head of Development for Entertainment. Based in Cologne, Holtmann will join BBC Studios Germany in September, focusing on exploiting the company’s scripted formats and developing original stories. Schadwinkel, joining in August from Constantin Entertainment, will oversee the production of future seasons of The 1% Club and other large-scale entertainment projects. Krabbenhöft, who joined BBC Studios Germany in May 2023, brings his extensive industry experience to the role and will be responsible for format adaptation and original development activities.
Finally, acclaimed executive producer Nick Thurlow has joined the Indian epic Vrushabha as an executive producer. The film, directed by Nanda Kishore and produced by Connekkt Media, Balaji Telefilms, and AVS Studios, stars a talented cast comprising Mohanal, Roshann Meka, Shanaya Kapoor, Zahrah S. Khan, Srikanth Meka, and Ragini Dwivedi. Thurlow’s involvement adds further credibility to this ambitious father-son drama, which will be shot simultaneously in Telugu and Malayalam languages and released in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil languages in 2024.
