Rahul Gandhi’s Reinstatement as Lok Sabha MP Hailed as Victory for Truth and Justice
Senior Congress leaders and party workers have celebrated the reinstatement of Rahul Gandhi as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha, calling it a triumph of truth and justice. The announcement of his reinstatement by the Lok Sabha Secretariat led to jubilant celebrations at the AICC headquarters, where Congress workers danced and raised slogans in support of Gandhi.
Gandhi’s disqualification as an MP occurred on March 23 following a conviction in a defamation case, which resulted in a two-year jail sentence. Any lawmaker sentenced for two years or more is automatically disqualified. However, the Supreme Court recently stayed his conviction, allowing for the restoration of his Lok Sabha membership. Gandhi represents Wayanad constituency in the lower house.
Reacting to the news, Congress leaders expressed their relief and satisfaction. Pramod Tiwari, the Congress’ deputy leader in Rajya Sabha, stated, Truth has triumphed, and lies have been defeated. INDIA has won, our lion Rahul Gandhi has won. Modi Ji, your defeat has begun. Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi also hailed Gandhi’s reinstatement.
Shashi Tharoor, a senior Congress leader, used Twitter to express his relief and welcome the official announcement of Gandhi’s reinstatement. He added that Gandhi can now resume his duties in the Lok Sabha and serve the people of India and his constituents in Wayanad. Tharoor described the restoration as a victory for justice and democracy.
The restoration of Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership is seen as a significant event for the Congress party, signaling their commitment to fighting for truth and justice. It also allows Gandhi to continue his role as a representative of the people, fulfilling his responsibilities as an MP.
