Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao inaugurated the Viprahitha Brahmin Sadan, declaring Telangana as the only state that has a building solely devoted to the Brahmin community. The state government has allocated Rs. 100 crore annually for the welfare and well-being of Brahmins since Telangana’s inception in February 2017. The allowance for Veda and Shastra priests has been increased from Rs. 2500 to Rs. 5000 per month, and the eligibility age for several benefits has been reduced from 75 to 65. The Doopa Deepa Naivedyam program has gone from 6441 to 9237 temples, and temple priests will be awarded Rs. 10,000 from the current Rs. 6000 for maintaining the temples. An annual grant of Rs. 2 lakh has been allocated for the maintenance of Veda Patashalas while the fee reimbursement for Brahmin students in various IITs and IIMs has also been extended.
