One-Day Wellness Summit in Fort Collins to Support Veteran Well-Being

Larimer County, in partnership with various health-care organizations, is all set to organize a one-day wellness summit aimed at promoting the well-being of veterans, caretakers, family members, and veterans service providers. The event, scheduled for August 15th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins, will be hosted by the county Behavioral Health Services and the Department of Health and Environment, along with the Northern Colorado and Cheyenne Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, Imagine Zero, and the Alliance for Suicide Prevention.

The summit aims to bring together individuals and organizations involved in supporting veteran well-being and provide them with an opportunity to connect and share valuable resources. Participants will also have access to informative sessions on a range of topics including well-being, suicide prevention, access to care, and harm reduction.

In light of the concerning statistics revealed in a recent report published by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the need for such an event has become increasingly evident. The report highlighted that the veteran suicide rate in Colorado surpasses both the national veteran suicide rate and the national general population suicide rate. Clearly, there is an urgent need to address this issue and support the mental health of veterans in the community.

The organizers of the summit recognize the importance of reaching out to veterans and providing them with vital resources and support systems. By bringing together various stakeholders, they hope to create an environment where attendees can learn from one another, gain valuable insights, and work towards improving the well-being of veterans in the region.

Attendance to the summit is free, and lunch will be provided to those who register in advance on the official website. This event presents a unique opportunity for individuals and organizations invested in veteran welfare to come together, collaborate, and create a real impact on the lives of those who have served their country.

In conclusion, Larimer County and its health-care partners are taking a proactive approach to address the mental health challenges faced by veterans by organizing a one-day wellness summit. By offering informative sessions and fostering dialogue, they hope to create a supportive network that enhances the well-being of veterans, caretakers, family members, and veterans service providers alike. With the shared goal of preventing veteran suicides and promoting access to care, this summit aims to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have selflessly served their nation.
