K.P. Rao Honored for Revolutionary Kannada Software Development, India

Eminent Kannada software expert K.P. Rao was recently honored by the Udupi District and Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parshat for his groundbreaking contributions to the development of Kannada software. The felicitation ceremony took place on August 6 in Udupi, where Mr. Rao was recognized for his immense dedication and scholarly achievements.

During the program organized by the Nadoja K.P. Rao Felicitation Committee, renowned writer and poet Jayanth Kaikini delivered a felicitation address. He emphasized the importance of combining thoughtfulness with preoccupation and commended Mr. Rao for embodying these qualities. Mr. Kaikini highlighted Mr. Rao’s unique approach to learning, such as memorizing textbook lessons in the style of Yakshagana, a traditional form of dance-drama. He also mentioned Mr. Rao’s interest in various fields, including music, cinema, and science. Notably, Mr. Rao demonstrated his curiosity by dismantling and reassembling computers, even when they were still unfamiliar to many.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Rao stated that language, like the almighty, is invisible but possesses the power to unite people. He underscored the vital role of language in facilitating understanding and connecting communities, comparing its acquisition to animals learning from their mothers.

The prestigious event was inaugurated by P.V. Bhandary, the director of A.V. Baliga Hospital, alongside the presence of esteemed personalities such as Lakshminarayana Karantha, the principal of MGM College, Swastishree Bhattaraka Charukeerthi Panditacharyavarya Swamiji, the seer of Moodbidri Jain Mutt, and Neelavara Surendra Adiga, the president of Parishat District.

Following the felicitation ceremony, workshops on various subjects were conducted, culminating in a dialogue with Mr. Rao. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with him and gain insights from his extensive knowledge.

The event was graced by the presence of Jayakara Shetty Indrali, the honorary president of the Felicitation Committee, Vishwanath Shenoy, the president, as well as writer Muralidhara Upadhya Hiriyadka, administrative officer Jagadish Shetty from the Rashtra Kavi Manjeshwara Govinda Pai Regional Research Centre, H.P. Raviraj, the Taluk President of Parishat, and Murali Kadekar, a teacher and Yakshagana patron.
