Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has hinted at a possible comeback to the T20I side as India sets its sights on ICC glory in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Sharma indirectly dropped the hint during the launch of the CricKingdom Academy in the USA, ahead of the tournament scheduled to be hosted by West Indies and the USA in June 2024.
After the T20 World Cup last year, the Indian selectors seemed to have moved on from veterans like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the shortest format. The new-look Men in Blue have been led by Hardik Pandya in T20Is, excluding the two cricket superstars from the squad.

When asked about the significance of the USA trip, Sharma said, More than just going and enjoying, there is another reason to come here (in the USA). Because you know the World Cup is coming. In June, there will be the T20 World Cup (2024) happening in this part of the world. So, I’m pretty sure everyone is excited. So yaa, we look forward to that.
Sharma also emphasized the importance of winning ICC events and expressed the team’s determination to end India’s ten-year-long trophy drought. He stated, ICC tournaments are the ones you need to win, we will try our best like any other year to have the best chance to win the trophy for India.
